Stavanger is a charming university town situated in beautiful natural surroundings on the south west coast of Norway. Home to a number of education and research institutions, and known as the oil and energy capital of Europe, Stavanger is known for its international population, vibrant atmosphere and active cultural life.

In the summer months, a number of music, food and sports festivals and events attract Norwegian and international tourists to Stavanger, which is home to Europe’s best preserved wooden house settlement. Others come to Stavanger to visit the region’s many scenic attractions, such as the world famous Preikestolen (“The Pulpit Rock”), which Lonely Planet has named the number one most breathtaking viewing platform in the world.
